Abstract
It is assumed that the available bandwidth is known in the existing QoS routing protocols for mobile ad hoc networks. And the QoS routing protocols focus mainly on how to discover QoS satisfied route and minimize overheads when setting up the route. The existing bandwidth estimation methods haven´t taken flow types into consideration, so the estimated results are not accurate. In this paper, we propose a service differentiation supported bandwidth estimation model, which considers not only the interference of neighbor nodes but also the flow type. Based on this bandwidth estimation model, we further extend the AODV protocol, making it QoS supportive. The simulation results show that our bandwidth estimation model can effectively estimate the available bandwidth and the extended AODV protocol also achieves better QoS performance.
