Abstract :
In this paper influence of inline dispersion compensation in 100Gb/s polarization division multiplexing coherent optical OFDM (PDM-CO-OFDM) system is studied by numerical simulation. The results show that amplified spontaneous emission noise (ASE) in additional Erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) and dispersion compensation fiber (DCF) nonlinearity has great impacts on the performance of inline dispersion compensation CO-OFDM system. In order to balancing both above effects, the input power of DCF is optimized. The optimal input power into DCF less than standard single mode fiber (SSMF) is 5 dBm. Furthermore, residual under-compensated dispersion per span is beneficial to CO-OFDM, the drop in maximum Q varies from 3.2 dB to 1.2 dB as the residual dispersion increases from 0 to 700 ps/nm compared with no inline compensation.
