Abstract :
Crosstalk-noise problem is getting serious as frequency increases, and the only effective way to decrease it has been to widen each space between traces in PCBs. Novel approaches to reduce the crosstalk-noise are thus strongly required in the GHz domain. We have proposed a novel PCB trace structure called “Segmental Transmission Line (STL)” already in order to reduce reflection noises in the bus wires. In this paper, we firstly apply the STL to reduce the crosstalk-noise. We design and fabricate an STL prototype, and demonstrate that the crosstalk noise of 0.29V in the conventional trace is reduced to 0.12V in the STL at 250MHz, which is scaled to transmission systems in the GHz domain.
