Abstract :
Within the Airborne Multirole Solid state Active Radar (AMSAR) project an X-band waveguide radiating element was developed. The radiating element was completely dimensioned by computer simulation. Subsequently, 135 radiating elements were manufactured for a test array. The radiating element was designed to have 2 polarisations with more than 20 % frequency bandwidth, low loss (<0.5 dB), wide scan range (0/spl les//spl thetav//spl les/60/spl deg/), low weight and small length (<20 mm).
