Abstract :
The delay-time concept has been extensively applied in the field of maintenance modeling and optimization. Previous works have mainly focused on single-component systems and series systems with many components, which are restricted. In this paper, we propose a delay-time-based inspection model for a two-component parallel system and study the optimal inspection interval which minimizes the expected cost per unit time in long run. As a beginning, this paper considers an exponential distribution for the time-to-defect of the components. Numerical examples are presented to illustrate the model. This work will be extended to general parallel systems in the future.
