Abstract :
The pacing problem is to determine when is the most economic time to draw the slab from the reheat furnace in order to decrease the idle time in the steel finishing mill. This pacing decision depends on the likelihood of delay. The benefit and the cost of the pacing system is assessed by a simulation using the actual operational data
