Abstract :
Nanofluids based on dispersion of Fe-C composite nanoparticles in deionized water and ethylene glycol were prepared and their thermal properties have been investigated as a function of the base fluid nature. The thermal conductivity of nanofluids has been measured through the transient hot wire method by using an in-house made experimental set-up. The influence of the volume fraction, dimensions and clustering of nanoparticles on nanofluid thermal conductivity were also studied. It is concluded that, in addition to the nanoparticle nature and characteristics, the nature and properties of the base liquid has also an important influence on the thermal conductivity enhancement in nanofluids.
