After careful and considered review of the content of this paper by a duly constituted expert committee, this paper has been found to be in violation of IEEE´s Publication Principles.
We hereby retract the content of this paper. Reasonable effort should be made to remove all past references to this paper.

One way of providing the assurance that the products will perform satisfactorily over their useful lives to customers is through a product warranty. In warranty servicing, corrective and preventive maintenance actions performed by manufacturers, retailers or third party warrant servicing providers have a significant impact on the total costs for these parties and exert a great influence on the product performance. As warranty and maintenance are highly important in the context of products, they receive the great attention from different disciplines. Literature on the relationship between warranty and maintenance is vast. In this paper, a review of the literature which links warranty and maintenance is carried out, and then a framework is developed to define new topics for future research.
