  • Abstract
    Objects: To investigate the effect of health management on the Chinese elderly. Methods:600 individuals who aged 60 and older in Nanjing, China were randomly allocated into intervention and control group. Results: after 6 month of health management the intervention group elderly improved a lot in the main indexes of health literacy - health knowledge, health behavior, health belief and health skills. As for health services utilization, the hospitalization days reduced between the two groups had significant difference; the times reduced of outpatient in the last 6 months of intervention group was more than the control group, but difference was not statistically significant. The Es of health management are the most were between 0.11 and 0.48 in addition to health knowledge, hyperlipemia patients triglyceride whose Es were greater than 0.5, moderate-intensity interventions. Conclusion: health management play an active role in raising health awareness, chronic diseases prevention of the elderly.
