Abstract :
A comparison between the classical approach and a new general one to verify the applicability of the Kirchhoff approximation in electromagnetic scattering from random surfaces is presented. The analysis is conducted under the theoretical, numerical and operative viewpoints. Particular emphasis is given to the small surface slope regime.
