Foreword [to the 2007 Proceedings of the 53rd IEEE Holm Conference on Electrical Contacts]

The conference Steering Committee Chair honored to welcome participants to the 53rd IEEE Holm Conference on Electrical Contacts. The conference strives to offer scientists and engineers from many countries, diverse contact technologies and educational backgrounds the chance to gather to present their work and share their unique knowledge and experience. The Holm Conference has always been regarded for the quality of the papers presented and the breadth of the subject matter relating to electrical contacts. The Technical Program Committee has once again put together an excellent program with 47 accepted papers in fields varying from nanomaterials and high frequency switching to the emerging field of electrical fault recognition and detection.
