Abstract :
This Conference Proceedings is dedicated to the memory of Professor Werner Rieder who passed away in February 2006. Professor Rieder was an exceptional scientist, teacher, mentor and colleague. His participation in this Conference extends all the way back to the very first Holm Seminar, which was held at the Pennsylvania State University in 1953. For the next 52 years he was an extremely active participant at every single Holm Seminar and its successor the Holm Conference. His numerous contributions in content and spirit earned him the utmost respect and highest regards of his peers. A brief professional biography is provided.
