Abstract
The service flows in the wireless metropolitan area networks (MAN) can be classified into the UGS, rtPS, nrtPS, and BE types by IEEE 802.16 standards. Although the protocols have been proposed to support QoS (quality of service) guarantees for various kinds of applications, they do not suggest how to schedule traffic to fulfill QoS requirement. In this paper, an efficient bandwidth scheduling architecture for the MAC protocol of IEEE802.16 BWA system was presented. Based on the analysis of the scheduling algorithm of the different services, a classified integrated scheduling algorithm was proposed to schedule different service flow, which is able to classify the service flows and schedule adaptively. The simulation results indicate the correctness and the effectiveness of this algorithm.
