Abstract :
A new Markov model is given taking retry limits and non-saturated case into consideration, based on IEEE 802.11a medium access control (MAC) distributed coordination function (DCF) protocol. Based on this model, a RTS/CTS access mechanism threshold was compartmentalized. Simulated results have shown that this model is accurate, and such optimization can improve system performance remarkably.
