Abstract :
Applications of microstrip antennas are limited mainly because of their narrow inherent bandwidth. There are many reports on solving this problem, such as using electrically thick substrates or stacked multipatch structures. All these designs, however, require a large antenna volume for broadband operation. In this article, new broadband designs of an equilateral-triangular microstrip antenna with a pair of bent slots are proposed and experimentally studied for the case of the thin-substrate condition.
