  • Abstract
The back-scattering of electromagnetic waves is investigated from a thin hollow anisotropic; conducting cylinder with a longitudinal slot. If the pitch angle of the helical conductive lines is equal to zero, then, for the H-polarized wave, the electrodynamic object under consideration turns into a metal cylinder with a longitudinal slot. The latter object is characterized by a resonance at low frequencies. Previously it has been shown that, under certain relations between the pitch angle of the conductive lines and the angular width of the slot, this resonance is selective with respect to the waves of different types of circular polarization. In the present paper, we investigate the radar back-scattering cross section as a function of frequency for various orientations of the slot and the electric-field vector of the incident wave. Analytical expressions are obtained that describe the low-frequency resonance. The measurement results are presented for the radar back-scattering cross section in the microwave band
