Abstract
The paper considers the hypothesis that advances in test technology, including sophisticated test software means that more test and diagnostic capability can be provided in smaller, transportable resources. In fact, the complexity of modern prime equipment can be more easily addressed by computer assisted diagnosis with less expertise required by the on-site technician. The paper discusses whether test solutions incorporating rapid deployable ruggedized test systems can provide close maintenance support for operations while bringing additional facilities such as screen-testing, flexible repair capability, customisable test & diagnosis and HUMS analysis at all levels from depth (Depot) right up to the operational area
