Abstract
To study the advantages of intra-fascial hysterectomy (IFH) with intact ascending uterine artery (AUA). Eighty-four patients were randomly assigned to the study group (IFH with intact AUA) and the control group (IH). Operation process, ovarian reserve, sexual function, urination and defecation function were compared between two groups. The operation time and complications were comparable between the two groups. During follow up period, the serum basal FSH and E2 were similiar with preoperative level in study group, while significantly increased in control group. The incidence of menopausal symptoms was significantly higher in control group (P<;0.0). In study group, the preservation of bilateral AUA and ovarian branch of uterine artery (UOA) were validated by ultrasound in all patients. IFH with AUA had less effect if any on ovarian reserve, while operation time and incidence of complications were similar with traditional IH. However, the long-term outcome should be further studied.
