Abstract
This paper presents an efficient spatial interpolation scheme for spatial scalability in the joint scalable video model (JSVM) which defines a scalable extension on top of the H.264/AVC. In order to increase coding efficiency of JSVM, we adopt a simplified up-sampling filter. It is only used to magnify the chroma components of an image due to the less importance of them. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme causes negligible quality degradation in image PSNR performance and much more improvement in computational complexity, so it outperforms the interpolation method in current JSVM scheme.
