Abstract
Reliable generation requires the early identification of defects occurring in service. This is best achieved through a planned programme of regular diagnostic testing and is particularly relevant to the electrical insulation of generators and large AC motors. The paper describes diagnostic techniques which can he applied to monitor the in-service condition of stator and rotor windings of generators and large AC motors in and out of service. The paper describes radiofrequency current transformers and partial discharge measurement
