Abstract :
The work focuses on transaction management, with particular attention both to the performance and to the data reliability and consistency, in order to propose new transaction models. An examination is made of traditional transaction management and recovery models, in order to be able to qualitatively capture their main features and characteristics. In particular, the shadow method, the BFIM/AFIM logging method, and the DB CACHE method are shown. The main features of the transaction management policy are identified, and three alternative buffer management models are described. A functional description of the transaction execution phases is given
