Abstract :
The Association of American Railroads (AAR) Mechanical Division Specification M-1001 Chapter XI describes the test and analysis requirements for approval of new and untried types of freight cars. A methodology for developing and evaluating the requisite analyses is described. The AAR vehicle dynamics program, NUCARS, is utilized as the primary analysis tool, while other software packages are used in postprocessing
