Abstract :
Summary form only given. The use of a software engineering tool, the programming environment generator called CENTAUR, in the high-level synthesis of integrated circuits is described. How CENTAUR can be used in the IC design process is discussed. Also presented is how the VHDL (VHSIC hardware description language) standard fits into CENTAUR and, as an example, how the Ada genericity could be included in VHDL
