Abstract
SCPS, the water-soluble crude polysaccharide extracted from the fruits of Schisandra chinensis, was purified by DEAE-cellulose and Sepharose CL-6B column, obtained three fractions named as SCPS-1a, SCPS-1b and SCPS-2. In this paper, the chemical and physical characteristics of polysaccharide fractions and antioxidant capacity were evaluated. Experimental results showed that SCPS-2 exhibited antioxidant activity significantly in a concentration-dependent manner, which can be developed as new antioxidant agents.
