Abstract :
Because of the problems involved with maintaining software and hardware the author tried to port the individual software of two power plant simulators onto new hardware platforms within a reengineering project. The examinations that had been carried out lead to a surprising result, that the least risky, most economic and best result would not be achieved by reengineering but by generating the software from scratch based on actual power plant data
