Abstract
This paper deals with effects of uniform and nonuniform quantization in amplitude measurement of a sine wave by means of an analog-to-digital converter (ADC). More specifically, the analytical relation between ADC nonlinearity and the error when the amplitude of the input sine wave has to be measured, is derived. This relation leads to both quantitative and qualitative results concerning ADC nonlinearity effects on sine wave measurement. Thus, a criterion is derived to minimize errors in practical measurements
