Abstract
We propose an algorithm that automatically detects clear scene cut locations from an MPEG coded video bit stream. The algorithm is based on the detection of the majority of intra-macroblocks and the directionality of the two neighbouring B-frames motion vector types from the bit stream. It is shown that the method is able to identify the location of scene cuts in I-, P- and each one of B-frames with a 100% success. Moreover, the algorithm can be adapted to operate for different group of picture (GOP) structures of MPEG coded streams
