Abstract
This paper presents the steady-state performance analysis of three-phase induction motor with SEMIHEX connection. Three-phase induction motors with SEMIHEX connection, which can operate symmetrically at given load and speed from single-phase supply, have higher efficiency and power factor than that operating from three-phase supply. In this paper, the conditions of balanced operation are obtained through theoretical analysis with the method of symmetrical component, and the method to predict steady-state performances of motors with SEMIHEX connection is proposed. It is proved that accurately balanced operation cannot be obtained by connecting capacitors only. The validity of proposed method is verified by the agreement between the calculated and experimental results.
