Abstract
The paper presents the technical and economic aspects of electromagnetic compatibility especially for `harmonics´, `unbalance´, `voltage fluctuations, dips and interruptions´. Causes and effects of these disturbances are tackled as well as their superposition and propagation on the different voltage levels of electric supply systems. Derived from these deliberations the existing and currently prepared International Standards and Guides on the limitation of the emission and the immunity as well as on the definition of the necessary measurement and test methods are presented
