  • Abstract
    Summary form only given. We have presented a novel and scalable approach to the frequency-doubling of sub-10-fs laser pulses, which uses quasi-phase-matching (QPM) SHG pulse compression in a nonlinearly-chirped grating. A first experimental demonstration of this method has led to sub-6-fs SH pulses. To our knowledge, these are the shortest pulses in the blue spectral region.
