Abstract
In this paper an architecture and a method which makes use of low frequency acoustic band transceptor system is presented for indoor positioning and tracking. The transceptor is a word presently coined in this paper for projector which projects the acoustic wave onto the target combined with receptor which receives the echo´s from the target object. The working distance of the proposed system depends not only on the number of receptors used in the array but also on the intensity of the transmitted signal in order to locate and track moving objects. Trials seem to indicate that the system is able to locate and track objects within a distance of approximately 30 feet.
