  • Abstract
The seamless handover is the key technology to support mobility of the standard IEEE802.16e which brings WMAN to a new level due to the support of mobility. Existing version of standard proposes OFDM (A)-based handover process system, which consists of network topology acquisition, scanning, initial ranging, authorization, and registration. But they are limited to MAC Layer. In this paper, based on the study of the 802.16e´s MAC handover, we propose an improved FHMIPv6 scheme which incorporates the mechanism of HMIPv6 and FMIPv6 using media independent handover (MIH) services being defined in IEEE 802.21 and elaborate the predictive handover procedure in detail. Compared with the FMIPv6 handover algorithm, the injection of the mobility anchor point (MAP) can effectively reduces the link expenses, and decreases the handoff latency of WiMAX network.
