Abstract
The study analyzes the development of solar boats in the Dutch province of Fryslan as a result of the Frisian Solar Challenge, a race for solar boats that takes 6 days in which a distance of 220 km needs to be traveled. In the study, two spin off projects that are related to the event are being compared to each other, using multi-level innovation model. Based on this comparison, a suggestion is made about the innovation activities of the organisations involved and about possible improvements for the next race in 2010.
