Abstract
Factors affecting the performance of AA-size Li/TCE cells with spirally wound electrode design were investigated. The data presented describe the performance of a practical AA-size Li/TCE cell capable of providing equal discharge life (under constant rate) to that of a similar size Li/SOCl2 cell. In the process of optimizing cell design, a study of the effect on cell discharge performance of carbon type and composition, of organometallic catalyst and of catholyte co-solvent content has been completed. Significant variation in Li/TCE cell performance has been observed as a function of cathode carbon and of catholyte co-solvent composition
