  • Abstract
Summary form only given. High intensity physics and time resolved chemistry benefit from powerful university-scale laser systems. We have developed an efficient, two-stage laser that can produce high average power kilohertz repetition rate pulses, such as needed by high harmonic generation, or multi-terawatt peak power pluses, for applications like pulsed X-ray diffraction. Stage 2 is a 6-mJ regenerative amplifier that can operate at repetition rates from <10-Hz to >1-kHz. The regenerative amplifier has a 30% pump energy conversion efficiency and requires only one pump laser (Quantronix 527DQ). Stage 2 of the laser system is a 0.26 J, 4-pass amplifier designed in collaboration with ALTOS/ESKMA.
