  • Abstract
Brushless doubly-fed generator (BDFG) is a kind of AC-excited generator which is especially suitable for the application in the variable speed constant frequency (VSCF) wind power system. A novel open-winding brushless doubly-fed generator (OW-BDFG) for wind applications is proposed in this paper. The fundamental structure and basic principle of OW-BDFG is introduced, three kinds of space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) are designed to adapt the open winding structure to achieve variable speed constant frequency (VSCF) operation. Simulation results show that three methods are all feasible, and clamp-compensation modulation method are optimal when considering both switching frequency and harmonic content.
