  • Abstract
The feasibility of automatically matching a hearing-impaired subject´s amplification requirements using a number of self-tuning bandpass digital filters is investigated. An algorithm has been developed in software and runs on a VAX computer which calculates the amplitude responses of up to ten such filters and automatically adjusts their characteristics by an iterative procedure until an accurate match to the original audiogram is obtained. The results indicate that the algorithm can provide good accuracy in matching the audiogram over a wide range of audiometric data.<>
