Abstract
A cryogenic whispering gallery sapphire oscillator has been investigated. The prototype sapphire-loaded cavity oscillator was designed to oscillate at 10.812 GHz and exhibited a fractional frequency stability of 6 times 10-13 at integration times of 1 s, which is limited by a hydrogen maser reference
