Abstract
The second generation of the BeiDou Navigation Satellites System, which began offering services to customers in the Asia-Pacific region in December 2012, will be a global satellite navigation system consisting of 35 satellites. It will be extensively applied into various civil fields in the future. The map update is a key issue in various application of the BeiDou Navigation System. In this paper, a navigation map update framework, which is based on the compatibility of RNSS and RDSS in the BeiDou Navigation System is provided for the BeiDou´s terminals. The update framework includes the data storage model of navigation information service, map update data model for customer navigation, update instruction structure and the navigation map update processes. It exploits the integrated functions of navigation and communication in the BeiDou system to realize security transmission and real-time update of the navigation map data. Eventually, the experimental system verified the feasibility of the updated framework.
