Abstract
The authors consider a direct-sequence spread-spectrum multiple access (DS/SSMA) communication system with convolutional coding and hard decision decoding. They calculate the packet error probability and throughput of this system. Previous bounds on packet error probability have relied on the worst-case assumption of phase and clip synchronous interference. New bounds on packet error probability and throughput are presented for the case of both slotted and unslotted systems. Numerical systems indicate that these bounds improve on previously reported bounds by more than an order of magnitude
