  • Abstract
The aim of this work is to introduce a new way of transparently securing multicast services, optimized for satellite networks. Security of multicast data is becoming an important issue to operators and users of satellite networks. This paper presents a secure multicast architecture that fits well into the satellite areas. Multicast service scenarios with detailed security architecture are presented here. This architecture accommodates link and network layer security (Internet) security systems and interworking with non-satellite entities. The technology, service differentiation mechanisms, control mechanisms and user mechanisms are discussed. The modules required in the network elements and its integration to provide security in Satellite networks are presented. The proposed solution is based on the distributed architecture . The deployed hierarchical architecture guarantees scalability and make possible per-flow security management in satellite access.
