Abstract
The authors examine a way to developing Department of Defense (DoD) standards and procuring DoD command control, communications, and intelligence, (C3I) systems. They describe the approach used for developing and procuring advanced data controller equipment. This approach reduces both the time and cost needed to develop standards, supports timely acquisition of C3I systems and equipment and ensures interoperability, which is essential for joint operations
