  • Abstract
    An example of standards implementation is presented, and the aspects of implementation from initial planning and standard development to fielding and configuration management are discussed. In addition, a brief glimpse of the standard´s future evolution is provided. The standard presented is the Joint Chiefs of Staff Publication 6-04, the US Message Test Format program, (USMTF). The USMTF program is an information standard that is an agreed set of character-oriented message formats, vocabulary, and procedures, which are used by US Armed Forces in worldwide joint and combined military operations
