Abstract
Dynamic transmission control procedures are identified for single-hop slotted ALOHA networks using frequency-hopped spread spectrum for both code division multiple access and anti-interference. These control procedures are implemented by varying the probability of transmission as a function of the estimated network backlog. The backlog process is estimated by sensing activity on the receiver-based code while the user is not transmitting. Half-duplex operation is assumed. The noise/jamming level is assumed to be stationary, and an estimate of this level is assumed. A description of the system model is given. The backlog estimation procedure is defined. Numerical results are presented, with graphs portraying the system performance under different parametric settings
