Abstract
Underground cable circuits are expensive, and many utilities are trying to increase capacity on these circuits rather than install new infrastructure. The profit-oriented utilities also must minimize expenses. This paper discusses techniques that may be applied to the major transmission cable types to improve capacity on the circuits with the intent of postponing or avoiding major new equipment purchases.
