Abstract
In this paper, the authors try to develop an intelligent user interface (IUI) for a database system with two features: 1) the introduction of multimodal inputs (speech input, natural language query, and of course mouse input); and 2) the introduction of autonomous adaptation of interface to the degree of user´s skill. The degree of user´s skill is evaluated by 6 measurements on database operation of user. Fuzzy set theory is applied to the processing of natural language query in the former and user´s skill evaluation model in the latter.
