Abstract :
There are some problems in distribution network such as large power losses, low reliability, needing reactive power, power quality and difficult to control the power flow, etc. The VSC-HVDC is for small-scale power and long distance with flexible control and operation mode. Based on analysis of the structure, technology characteristics and application scope of VSC-HVDC and distribution network, an alternative form of VSC based distribution network is presented in this paper. The configuration, control and operation characteristics are analyzed. Simulation results based on software PSCAD/EMTDC show that the VSC based DC distribution network can operate stably and return stable quickly after faults.
