Abstract :
Much of what is said is relevant to all designers whatever they may be designing. Some of what is said is relevant to managers of workplaces. In the broadest sense planners, engineers, architects and other production and construction professionals, as well as the managers of workplaces, are responsible for its design and how it operates. Each of these professionals can introduce stress-related problems into the workplace. Could and should designers do more to eliminate stress from the operational workplace? We have to answer yes. This paper explores this affirmative answer and, in doing so, identifies that designers have to understand people to be able to design out stress
