Abstract :
This paper discusses the arrangement of the flux barriers in the stator of the outer rotor type IPMSM. IPMSM usually has the flux barriers for preventing the short circuit of magnetic flux near the permanent magnet. However, the flux barriers are used in the stator to improve the efficiency in this study. A two-dimensional finite element method (2D-FEM) is introduced to analyze the various modified models. As a result, we have found the better arrangement of the flux barriers in the stator of the outer rotor type IPMSM.
