  • Abstract
    The paper presents new concepts for control, monitoring and diagnostics for high voltage switchgear. Circuit breakers (AIS, GIS), GIS on-line monitoring of the gas conditions, on-line partial discharge measurement and on-line arc detection are covered. This paper also addresses the question of how to integrate control, monitoring and diagnostic functions in order to achieve benefits of increased reliability, reduced cost and increased functionality. Communication concepts with digital process buses at bay level are shown. The advantages and the applicability of new integrated control, monitoring and diagnostic concepts are discussed by means of technical and commercial aspects
